Exciting news:
I'm offering tarot card readings at Rare Earth Beads!
Where:
2706 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd.
Durham, NC
Above Guglhupf Bakery and Cafe
When:
Thursday-Sunday, 12-6
How:
No appointment necessary, just come by! However, you may wish to call ahead to make sure the tarot reader is in, since life occasionally wreaks havoc on my schedule: (919) 384-5966
What to Expect:
I will do a four card reading that covers the current situation, the challenge or opportunity confronting you, something in the past that led to the current situation, and the likely future outcome. You will also have a chance to ask questions to be answered by the cards (limit of three questions). And if a particular stone or crystal is demanding your attention, I will analyze the stone's metaphysical properties as they relate to your reading.
Some Notes on My Tarot Philosophy:
People often tell me they don't want a tarot reading because they're afraid they'll receive a dire prediction and have to live in fear until the awful prophecy comes to pass. Personally, I find that tarot is very bad at predictions, since the future is always subject to change based on what we do in the present. I don't read tarot to predict the future. Instead, I view it as a tool for diagnosing the present and thus taking greater command of the future.
How does this work? I read for what is happening now, what factors are currently in play, and the likely outcome along the current trajectory. If you don't like that outcome, you can change what you're doing now in order to change where you're headed. And followup questions can help pinpoint the most productive ways to alter course. There is no need to fear "negative" cards, because the cards will either be describing something you're already experiencing, often validating or clarifying that experience, or warning you of a problem in time to take corrective action.
Why do we need tarot to tell us what we're already experiencing? Tarot has an uncanny ability to pinpoint the most significant or important situation that we're facing--the one that has the greatest implications for our future. Sometimes we know exactly what that situation is, but need guidance navigating to the desired outcome, or confirmation that we're on the right track. Other times, we might not be focused on the situation that most requires our attention and tarot can shine a spotlight. For example, you might be obsessing about your love life, but tarot will direct you to attend to that knotty situation at work. In many cases, the same energetic patterns that are hindering you in love are at play in that work situation--get a handle on the work dynamic and love will begin to flow more freely, too.
